Baseball Math

Math is the Hellion’s favorite subject.  Unfortunately he loathes workbooks for this subject.  This makes teaching him a PITA!  It also means getting very creative.  So, after doing some intense research (read, looked for about 10 min and then gave up) I decided to come up with some of my own activities and games.  The Hellion’s favorite sport is baseball.  I found a baseball multiplication game, but nothing to do with adding.  So I made my own.  No comments from the peanut gallery on my lack of artistic ability.

I was purple, H was green.

The rules are pretty simple, roll two die and add up the total.  5-6 is a single, 7-9 is a double, 10-11 is a triple and 12 is a homerun.  If you roll a one or doubles it is an out.  3 outs or 10 batters and your turn is over.  Move your players around the bases.  Most runs wins.  He ended up kicking my butt 19-14.  I also decided that double 1’s would be a homerun next time we play.

Below is the scoring sheet I made to go along with my beautiful playing field (no snickering).
