Florida Caverns

While this trip doesn’t have a whole lot to do with anything we are studying now, Hellion and I learned a lot about geography and geology.  We took his best friend with us making this trip even more fun.  We did reference our intro to History when we talked about Archaeology and cave people.  The caverns were half flooded so we didn’t get to do the full tour.  We are planning another trip when the waters have receded.

Checking out a dark hole.  They were fascinated with it.

Pointing out a cool formation.

Ribbed curtain formation.  D loved it, looks like a spinal cord.

It was a fun trip.  The cave was a cool 63 degrees, which was nice and refreshing considering the 90+ temperature outside.  Hellion can now tell you the difference between a stalactite and a stalagmite.  Love it!
